Hollywood's Rob Schneider Excited About Indian Debut

New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS): Well-known standup comedian and Hollywood actor Rob Schneider, who is set for his maiden Indian performance Wednesday, says he is excited to learn more about India's culture and share his routine with his fans here.

"I'm very excited to learn more about Indian culture and share my routine with my Indian fans," Schneider told IANS in an e-mail interview, adding "I hope that the audience will have as much fun as I."

Do you wish to be part of any Bollywood film?

"I am definitely a fan of Indian cinema!" he said.

The 48-year-old will make his Indian debut in Pune Wednesday at the Black Dog Comedy Evenings Season and he will travel to other cities. His next will be in Bangalore Nov 24 followed by Kolkata Nov 25, Gurgaon Nov 26 and Mumbai Nov 27. The shows are being hosted by scotch brand Black Dog.

Asked what the most intriguing part of standup comedy was, he said: "The relationship with the audience. With TV and Movies, people will watch me in their own homes and then approach me in a store or on the street and tell me they are fans. With standup comedy, they are in the same room!"

Schneider earned popularity through the NBC sketch-comedy series "Saturday Night Live" and then graduated to movies where he earned a fan following through films "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo", "The Hot Chick", and "Grown Ups".

After working in various mediums, he feels "standup comedy is the most difficult," and praised Russell Peters saying, "he is a friend of mine. He is a truly talented comedian".

Content is important for the comedies and Schneider's inspiration comes from real life.

"Yes, I get most of my material from my own experiences, relationships and opinions," he said.
