Mangaluru, Sep 24: The First Additional District and Sessions Court of Mangaluru, presided by Judge Mallikarjun Swamy H S, has sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment in connection with the 2019 murder of Shreemathi Shetty.
The convicted individuals, Jonas Samson alias Jonas Jowlin Samson (40) and his wife Victoria Mathias (47), received life sentences for their involvement in the crime. Another accused, identified as Raju, who assisted them, has been sentenced to six and a half months of simple imprisonment.

Shreemathi Shetty, who ran a chit fund business in Attavar, Mangaluru, had visited Jonas's house in Suterpete to demand repayment of money owed to her. It was then that Jonas and Victoria murdered her, looted her gold jewelry, and subsequently dismembered her body into 29 pieces. Jonas later disposed of the body parts at various locations around the city at night.
Government prosecutor Judith Olga Margaret Crasta represented the prosecution in the case.
