Mangaluru, Sep 26: The health department temporarily locked a private cosmetic surgery clinic in the city in connection with the death of a youth who visited the clinic for cosmetic surgery.
District health and family welfare officer Dr H R Timmaiah sealed the clinic as per the direction of deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan following the death a resident of Ullal, who had approached the clinic for cosmetic surgery.
The health department took up the case suo moto after the family members of the deceased, accused the doctor of negligence. They alleged that the doctor improperly administered anaesthesia before the surgery.

According to the family, the deceased had visited the clinic on Saturday morning to have a small boil on his left chest removed. However, they claim he died due to the doctor's negligence.
District health officer Dr H R Timmaiah stated, "During a preliminary inspection by health officers, it was found that the clinic lacked basic infrastructure. An expert committee has been formed to investigate the matter, and the committee will submit its investigation report to the DC."
