Minister unveils upgraded govt school in Byatarayanapura, Bengaluru: A Vidyashilp CSR initiative

Bengaluru, Sep 26: The Vidyashilp Education Group inaugurated a newly upgraded government higher primary school in Byatarayanapura on Thursday, September 26, 2023, at 10:30 am. The ceremony was graced by Krishna Byre Gowda, Minister of Revenue and MLA of Byatarayanapura, who formally inaugurated the new building. The event also welcomed esteemed guests, including Dr P. Dayananda Pai, Mohini D Pai, Ravindra Pai, and Dr Kiran Pai.

Named in honour of Dr P Dayananda Pai and P Satish Pai, the renovated school infrastructure features 15 well-lit classrooms, an activity center, a lab room, an amphitheater, dedicated dining and meeting areas, a spacious play area, modern toilet facilities, and a secured boundary wall.

Designed by renowned architect Sanjay Mohe of Mindspace Architects, the upgraded building includes rainwater harvesting pits and large open spaces to help students connect with nature and promote environmental awareness. Currently, 375 students are enrolled, fostering a conducive learning environment aimed at providing a holistic educational experience.

Minister Krishna Byre Gowda praised the efforts of the Vidyashilp Education Group, stating, “The initiatives undertaken by Vidyashilp in transforming this school are commendable. Such efforts, alongside the collaboration of the school faculty, provide access to quality education and ensure a positive environment for the children. This exemplifies how educational institutions and the government can work together to effect meaningful change in society.”

Dr P Dayananda Pai, chairman of Century Real Estate Holdings, emphasised the group’s dedication to the community, stating, “At Vidyashilp Education Group, we believe in extending our resources and expertise to strengthen education at the grassroots level. This project aligns with our commitment to excellence and the holistic development of students through high-quality education and modern infrastructure. Having spent 30 years in Byatarayanapura and observing the need for improvement, our objective is to develop Byatarayanapura as a model town in Bengaluru. Our collaboration with local government authorities is a step toward providing a brighter future for young minds and preparing them for life, work, and leadership.”

The upgrade of this government school illustrates the transformative power of collaborative corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at enhancing public education infrastructure. The Vidyashilp Community Trust, a registered charitable organization, is committed to improving educational quality in rural India by focusing on holistic development and empowering children to become future change-makers.

The Vidyashilp Community Trust has adopted 21 government schools in North Bengaluru, providing advanced teaching aids, enhancing medical facilities, and creating supportive learning environments. Its mission is to bridge the socio-economic divide through high-quality, low-cost, and replicable educational interventions that transform schools. Since its inception, over 4,000 students have benefited.

The primary objective of the School Adoption Programme is to transform government schools into model institutions, providing them with platforms for quality education, facilities, infrastructure, and performance. The trust envisions preparing future-ready students by offering opportunities that empower them to shape their own paths and contribute meaningfully to society.

To advance digital education, the trust has equipped these schools with digital classrooms and distributed tablets, facilitating access to modern learning tools. Additionally, playground equipment has been installed in nine schools to support holistic development. The Vidyashilp Community Trust also conducts comprehensive health check-ups for students across its 21 schools, covering dental, eye, ear, and throat health assessments.
