Mangaluru, Oct 5: The mortal remains of a missing unmarried man were discovered in a well near his home in Kollya Kujumagadde, within the Ullal police jurisdiction, this afternoon.

The deceased, Prasad (44), a resident of Kollya in the Someshwara municipality, had last been seen leaving his house on October 4, leaving his mobile phone behind. His brother filed a missing person report at the Ullal police station, prompting searches around their home and with relatives.

This afternoon, Prasad's sandals were found near a dilapidated well close to his residence. Upon further investigation of the well, his remains were recovered. Fire service personnel assisted in retrieving them.

Prasad, who had been living with his family in Kujumagadde for several years, worked as a painter and had reportedly been struggling with depression in recent days. Authorities suspect that he may have taken his own life due to this condition.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
