Udupi, Oct 8: The Udupi district tourism department has issued a warning to homestays and resorts, urging them to operate without causing any disturbances to local residents. This follows multiple complaints from locals alleging that some establishments are violating regulations and engaging in unethical activities, leading to disruptions in the community.
The department emphasized that all approved homestays and resorts must strictly adhere to its conditions and ensure they do not inconvenience the locals. Any violation of these rules could result in the revocation of their operating licenses.
According to the Karnataka Tourism Trade Facilitation (KTTF) Act 2015, homestays, resorts, and other tourism-related activities can only be conducted with proper approval from the tourism department. However, the department has noted that some establishments are operating without the necessary licenses. Such unauthorized activities will be immediately halted, and the concerned businesses will only be allowed to resume after obtaining the required approvals.
