Two arrested for assault on Catholic Sabha president in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Oct 10: Mangaluru rural police have arrested two individuals for assaulting and threatening the life of Alwyn Jerome D’Souza, president of the Catholic Sabha, who was inspecting illegal sand mining near Pavoor Uliya.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Mohammed Ataullah (40), a resident of Pudu village in Farangipete, and Tauseer, also known as Pattonji Tauchi (31), a resident of Shama Apartments, Marnamikatte. Ataullah allegedly used abusive language to provoke the attack, while Tauseer physically assaulted Alwyn.

A case of assault and life threat was registered at Mangaluru rural police station on October 5. The court has since remanded the accused to judicial custody.
