Bengaluru company dismisses employee for threatening female colleague with acid attack

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 12: In a shocking case of workplace harassment, a company has dismissed an employee for threatening his female colleague with an acid attack over her clothing choices, igniting public outrage and prompting a police inquiry.

The accused, Nikith Shetty, reportedly sent a message to Shahbaz Ansar, the husband of the female colleague, stating, “Ask your wife to dress properly in Karnataka, otherwise acid will be poured on her face.” This message was sent on October 9, prompting Ansar to inform the police.

In a post on X, Ansar wrote, “This man has questioned the selection of dress of my wife and also threatened to pour acid on her face. Please take action against him immediately to prevent any mishap.”

He tagged DGP, CM Siddaramaiah, and DCM D K Shivakumar, expressing concern for women’s safety in the private company where Shetty is employed.

Following public outcry, the company dismissed Shetty after the issue was brought to their attention. Ansar expressed gratitude, stating, “Nikith Shetty, who threatened to pour acid on my wife’s face, is dismissed from work by the company.”

Nikith Shetty may have been in trouble by his threatening message...but what might have triggered him to message that way? If she is Muslim and still chose to dress immodestly, then her husband is surely a Dayoot!!!!!

Nikith Shetty's behavior is unacceptable in a civilized society. However, in my opinion, there should be a proper investigation to reveal the truth. Moreover, the female victim was recently in the news for wearing improper clothing and doing a photo shoot in and around Udupi Beach.

The fellow is a threat to society, he should be arrested under the relevant laws and given the acid treatment below his belt. Just sacking him from his job doesn’t resolve the issue, getting another job may not be an issue or given his bold and brash nature he can be absorbed as a Karyakarta (aka Moral Police in KA).

Dismissal from work is not legal action .. Please initiate legal action against this person.Maybe the victim should file a police complaint against this person. Why was it not done?

A "threat" is not a cognizable offense, so police cannot do much. A court case has to be filed and it will take years and decades before any action can be taken, in these circumstances removal from job is a good move.

Shocking.Whose wife and who is threatening?I feel only by dismissing him is not end of the story.I feel it may continue the horror for dismissing him.He should have arrested and punished for threatening.God knows whether he may take grudge?Be careful. Some people are mentally sick.

"Nikith Shetty's behavior is unacceptable in civilized society. He has issues with a colleague's attire, despite her being married and doing her job. People like Nikith Shetty shouldn't be employed by any company because his words indicate a dangerous intent. Anyone who talks about committing an acid attack is no less than a hardened criminal."

It is not good to judge someone without knowing the whole story. Not necessary what we read is actually truth. I remember there was a case where a girl falsely accused a young Sardarji for being rude to her at public place. She posted on social media and made him popular. The result he lost his job, his career and one of his parent died due to society pressure. Later it was found that the girl was notorious and it wasn't the boy's fault.
