Udupi, Oct 15: Temporary repairs are underway on Santhekatte Road after significant wear and tear appeared just months after its inauguration. Workers have started laying gravel and asphalt to address the deterioration.

The repairs follow news coverage by Daijiworld.com, which drew attention to the poor condition of the underpass. This prompted MP Kota Srinivas Poojary to visit the site, after which he recommended immediate asphalting as a temporary fix. The resurfacing was completed within days, providing smoother travel for commuters.

Local residents have raised concerns about the road’s rapid deterioration, citing safety hazards and disruptions to daily commutes. While the current repairs offer short-term relief, a long-term maintenance plan is yet to be developed.

The dust from the damaged road has posed difficulties for commuters, but the recent asphalting is expected to improve safety and accessibility in the short term.
