Sullia: Lack of road access forces locals to carry sick elderly man on chair

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Oct 17: A sick elderly man was carried on a chair by locals due to the lack of road access to his house in Nadubettu, Madippadi village, Sullia taluk.

There are 14 houses in Madippadi village, and the road connecting these houses is in a completely dilapidated state. As a result, vehicle drivers refuse to travel to these homes.

The road is filled with large potholes. Only during the summer do jeeps and pickup trucks operate on this stretch. During the rainy season, no vehicles can be driven.

Residents of the area carry all agricultural produce and groceries to their homes on their heads.

There may be lots of villages in the country without road access and people need to walk through rough terrain (Hils) and through narrow walking path through fields. So, locals make use of a stretcher made out of wooden or bamboo logs to transport the old and sickly people. Locals are very cooperative in this regard.
