Bengaluru, Oct 18: BJP opposition leader in the Assembly R Ashoka on Friday claimed that the ED raids on Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in connection with the site allotments to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife were not linked to politics and pointed out that it was the Congress leaders, who had alleged a scam of Rs 3 to 4,000 crore.
Speaking to media persons, he said there were allegations on irregularities in over 1200 sites, including those of Siddaramaiah’s wife and the then MUDA chairman Marigowda, who is a Congressman, had written on the Rs 3 to 4,000 crore irregularities.
Social activist Snehamayi Krishna had also lodged a complaint with ED and there is no question of politics, he said.
“When ED is probing huge financial irregularities, where is the question of BJP or Centre interfering,” he asked and said the Modi government was not involved at all.
The BJP leader said the MUDA scam and the investigations by ED should not be politicised. “If the sites are recovered and money is recovered, it will help the government. The Treasury will benefit,’’ he said asking all Congressmen to welcome the ED probe.
Ashoka mentioned that BJP leaders had not lodged complaints to politicise the ED probe.
“If there are no financial transactions, how can there be Rs 3 to 4,000 crore irregularities. When the sites have been illegally allotted, it is common sense that financial dealings have taken place and it is black money that is behind the scam,” he said.
The BJP leader said those questioning ED probe should have gone to the court and asked why Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not approach the court.
Asking the Chief Minister for attacking the ED probe, Ashoka wanted to know why the government constituted SIT probe if it has objections to ED investigations.
He said the BJP will decide on the next course of action and the party’s protests based on the documents that have surfaced.
