Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Oct 19: On Friday, October 18, Bellare police took Panja zone deputy zonal forest officer Sanjeeva Poojary into custody, accused of making derogatory remarks about the women and girls of a particular community.

An audio clip, allegedly featuring the accused in a phone conversation using offensive language about women and girls of a specific community, went viral. Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) filed a complaint with Bellare police regarding the matter.

On Friday, Hindu organizations protested in front of the DySP office, demanding the arrest of Sanjeeva Poojary. Acting on this, Bellare police arrested Sanjeeva from his residence in Kaniyoor and interrogated him. Previously, he had also been accused of posting derogatory comments on social media about members of the Bhajaka community.

The police produced Sanjeeva before the Sullia court, which granted him conditional bail.

Meanwhile, Koti Chennaya Yuvashakti Aliyoor and Billava Samudaya Seva Sangha Shirtadi filed separate complaints against Sanjeeva Poojary for his derogatory remarks against the women and girls of the Billava community. They also called for his removal from government service.
