Mangaluru: Vijayanagar Road residents demand urgent action as muddy conditions worsen

Mangaluru, Oct 19: Residents of Vijayanagar Road in Alape Padil are facing severe challenges due to the poor condition of the road, which connects over 25 homes.

For the past three months, ongoing railway work has involved the complete excavation of a 300-meter stretch, forcing residents to navigate through muddy conditions for an extended 400-meter distance.

No alternative routes were provided before the work began, leaving both sides of the road heavily impacted. Residents now find themselves trudging through deep mud while heavy construction vehicles continually worsen the situation.

Despite numerous complaints to local representatives, residents report a lack of response, leaving them feeling frustrated and helpless. They express that they are not opposed to development but believe that proper alternative walking routes should have been established for their safety.

Many residents are struggling to park their vehicles far from their homes, complicating the logistics of sending their children to the local anganwadi.

The mud has become so deep that it reaches ankle height, making it nearly impossible to use the road. In light of these conditions, residents are demanding immediate provision of alternative routes and plan to write to the railway minister and the Prime Minister to seek a resolution.
