Mangaluru, Oct 22: "Even a child knows the facts that BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath is unaware of. It is absurd that an MLA, who lacks basic knowledge, is trying to politicize the railway incident," said MUDA chairman Sadashiva Ullal. He added that despite the railway department and railway police being under the control of the central government, MLA Kamath is unnecessarily blaming the state government.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Ullal Block Congress office regarding the Thokkottu railway incident, he said, "MLA Vedavyas Kamath is wrongly blaming the state government in the Thokkottu railway incident. The central government, led by the BJP, controls the railway department and the railway police, who are responsible for the case. The MLA seems to lack the common knowledge that even children have. An MLA carries a great responsibility and should speak after understanding the facts thoroughly. I condemn Kamath’s statements and urge the central government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident."
Ramesh Shetty Boliyar, president of the Ullal Block Congress, commented, "The Ullal Block Congress strongly condemns the railway incident. The railway police should conduct a full investigation and arrest those responsible. BJP MLA Kamath is making statements without knowledge. We condemn his remarks."
He added, "As an MLA, Kamath should empathize with the pain of the people rather than attempting to mislead them. Before blaming the state government, he should understand the system. If possible, he should pressurize the central government to arrest the culprits. The railway department, which is under the central government, should conduct a thorough investigation and punish those responsible for placing stones on the tracks."
Possibility that BJP leaders are involved: Spokesperson Ashraf K C Road
"There is also a possibility that BJP leaders placed the stones on the Thokkottu railway track with political malice. Politics is being played on the issue of national security. According to a preliminary report by the RPF, the children of migrants living in shanties near the railway tracks are placing stones. However, the railway department should take the case seriously and conduct a comprehensive investigation. Migrant workers from northern Indian states, mostly under BJP rule, are increasingly coming to the coastal region. The existence of these shanties is evidence of unemployment in these BJP-ruled states. Continuous incidents have been reported, such as placing cylinders on the tracks in Surat, Gujarat, on September 21 and attempting to derail trains by displacing the tracks on the Sabarmati-Jodhpur route. With Pakistani terrorists already sending emails threatening to tamper with railway tracks, the state government must take such incidents seriously. Instead of playing politics and targeting a particular community, the focus should be on addressing these issues. While the central government is failing to control the influx of Bangladeshi migrants, they are wrongly blaming the Congress-led state government instead of addressing their own failures regarding national security," constituency spokesperson Ashraf K C Road said.
Also present at the event were former taluk panchayat president Mohammad Monu Malar, president of the Catholic Sabha Alwyn D’Souza, former president of Ullal City Council Dinesh Rai, women's Congress constituency president Chandrika Rai, former president of Munnuru gram panchayat Wilfred D’Souza, and block secretary Mansoor Manchila.
