Byndoor, Oct 24: A motorcyclist lost control while speeding downhill and plunged into a rivulet beside NH 66, near Nakatte minor bridge, under the limits of Byndoor police station on Thursday afternoon.

The rider, identified as Usman (24), son of K P Ismail, a resident of Kirimanjeshwara, managed to escape after the fall.

Usman, who runs a fishing business in Bhatkal, was heading home to Kirimanjeshwara from Bhatkal around noon when the incident occurred. As he neared Nakatte minor bridge, he veered too far left and fell into the rivulet. The depth of the water caused his bike to sink, but Usman swam to safety.

Reports suggest that Usman had been sleep-deprived for two days after returning from a deep-sea fishing trip. He is believed to have dozed off while approaching the bridge, leading to the accident. Fortunately, he survived the mishap and received medical treatment at Byndoor government hospital.
