Media Release

Dubai, Oct 25: Daiji Dubai, the forum of Konkani writers in the UAE, is all set to celebrate its 25th anniversary in grand style at the Movenpick Hotel, Oud Metha Ballroom, Oud Metha, on Sunday, October 27 from 11 am onwards.

The ‘Daiji Anniversary,’ known for its high-profile and professionally managed entertainment, is regarded as one of the most prestigious Konkani events, attracting a large audience every year. This year, the Daiji Lifetime Achievement Award – ‘Daiji Dubai Gulf Samaj Rathn Puraskar-2025’ – will be conferred upon Michael D’Souza, Dubai, and Felix Lobo, Doha, Qatar, two renowned Konkani personalities who have contributed significantly to the promotion of Konkani language, culture, and programmes in the Gulf region.

The magnificent celebration in Dubai will also feature a special musical tribute to late Konkani legends Wilfy Rebimbus, Mickmax, Claude D'Souza, Victor Concessao, Jerome D'Souza, Alfred Rose, Henry T D'Souza, P H Pinto, and Panchu Bantwal.

Artistes from Mangaluru, led by Sanjay Rodrigues aka Sanju Baba, along with Jason Lobo, runner-up of Mojo Taalo Gaithalo and Soad 5, Sonal Agnes Monteiro, winner of Soad 5, and guest artiste Sunil Monteiro, arrived in Dubai on Thursday, October 24. Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, convenor of Daiji Dubai Forum, along with treasurer Alwyn Pinto, members Ramcy Fernandes and Nelson Rodricks of the Daiji Trust, extended a warm welcome to them with floral bouquets.

Speaking to the media, team leader Sanjay Rodrigues expressed his excitement about the event, saying, “We are thrilled with the publicity by the Daiji team and the overwhelming response from music lovers. Performing in the UAE is always a challenge, and this is our first trip here. Jason and Sonal are seasoned singers, and we have left no stone unturned. For the past two months, we have been practicing rigorously to deliver our best to the UAE audience. Additionally, I have coordinated with local artistes, and everyone is well-prepared for their respective performances. Expectations are high from our dear music lovers, but I’m confident we will make this show an unforgettable one in the history of Konkani music.”

Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, convenor of Daiji Dubai, said, “We are delighted with the positive feedback from our audience. All our hard work over the last four months has paid off. With a jam-packed audience, it will be a houseful show. We are immensely grateful to our generous sponsors, who have always stood by us like pillars of support, making this mega event possible. The programme will start promptly at 11:00 am, and I request all music lovers to arrive on time as the show will begin with memorable songs by yesteryear composers who have left behind a rich legacy.”

All entry passes have been sold out, and no more are available. Guests are kindly requested to carry their entry passes to ensure smooth access to the venue.
