Udupi: Police dog ‘Captain’ retires after eight years of dedicated service

Udupi, Oct 26: After eight years of loyal service, the police dog 'Captain' retired on Friday, October 25. In honour of Captain’s service, the superintendent of police presented a retirement tribute, and the event was marked with a formal parade.

Throughout his career, Captain played a crucial role in more than 400 security and anti-sabotage missions across various states and districts, including high-profile events attended by dignitaries such as the Prime Minister, President, and international leaders at the IPL, World Cup, and air shows. Known for his exceptional skills, Captain earned a reputation befitting his name.

Captain was also awarded a gold medal at a regional duty meet in recognition of his remarkable performance. The farewell ceremony was attended by Dr Arun K (IPS), superintendent of police; S T Siddalingappa, additional superintendent of police; Timmapa Gowda (KPS), DAR officer; and officials and staff from various police stations.
