Ponda, Sep 15: The Ponda Municipal Garden is set for a much-needed makeover, with the Ponda Municipal Council preparing a redevelopment plan to give the neglected garden a fresh lease of life.

Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Virendra Dhavalikar said the redevelopment plan has been prepared and will be submitted to the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) for approval.

He said the redevelopment work is likely to be undertaken using funds from the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) or through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding.

The garden has remained in a poor condition due to years of neglect, with its deteriorating state raising concerns among local residents.

The proposed redevelopment is expected to improve the overall appearance of the garden and provide a cleaner, better-maintained public space for residents of Ponda.

The plan will now be forwarded to the DMA for approval, following which the council is expected to explore the available funding options for carrying out the proposed makeover.
