Mangaluru, Nov 5: A group of youths recently attacked the car of Edneer Math's Swamiji Sachidananda Bharathi near Kasargod, close to the Karnataka-Kerala border. The incident occurred on the Bovikkana-Iriyanne route while Swamiji was returning to the Math after attending an event. The attackers reportedly used sticks to break the car windows. Fortunately, Swamiji escaped unhurt.

Hindu organizations have condemned the attack, demanding strict action against the perpetrators. Hindu Aikya Vedi organized a protest in Bovikkana, urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and provide additional security for Swamiji.

MP Brijesh Chowta, MLA Bhatrath Shetty condemn

The attempt to assault Swamiji has drawn widespread condemnation in Dakshina Kannada. MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta demanded that the Kerala government take immediate action to apprehend the attackers and impose strict punishment. Chowta emphasized the seriousness of the incident, as it involved an attack on a spiritual leader who promotes peace and harmony within the Hindu community. He urged Kerala’s chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, to ensure adequate security for Swamiji.

Dr Bharat Shetty, MLA for Mangaluru North, also condemned the attack, criticizing the state of law and order in Kerala. He noted that the growing challenges from divisive and anti-Hindu elements reflect the failures of the Kerala government. Shetty called the attack on a revered figure like Swamiji an assault on the entire Hindu community.

Meanwhile, activists from Hindu organizations and the public have taken to social media with posts like “We Stand With Edneer Swamiji,” expressing their anger and support for Swamiji.

They are saints of a specific sect. Why should BJP leaders be the ones to condemn these attacks (if they even occurred)? Such matters should be addressed by the religious body itself, either by condemning the attacks or filing a case with the local police
