Channapatna (Ramanagara), Nov 7: Campaigning for his grandson Nikhil Kumaraswamy in the Channapatna assembly constituency by-election, JDS supremo H D Deve Gowda asked the people to vote for the JDS-BJP candidate from NDA and uproot the corrupt Congress regime.
Electioneering for the third consecutive day, the former Prime Minister on Thursday said: "I don't claim to have created this constituency" and said the people know his contribution.
“I am here to extend my support for Nikhil Kumaraswamy. I’ve contributed significantly to the region, including strengthening the dairy sector here,” he said and explained that he had built the Iggalur dam to bring water to Channapatna.
Attacking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, said the Chief Minister had to appear before Lokayukta police.
"I am the son of a farmer. I understand farmers' hardships. People say I am here only to help my grandson win. But I say that, with your blessings, I hope to live a few more years to continue fighting against this government. It is looting the state. There will be no peace here as long as they remain in power, no stability for the poor or farmers,” he said.
He asked the people to visit Kanakapura to see how the DK brothers (Shivakumar and Suresh) have ‘looted others’ land’ and said Karnataka should be freed from the evil Congress rule.
