Mangaluru: Accused in 2021 Ulaibettu rape-murder case sentenced to death

Mangaluru, Nov 8: The District Sessions Court, FTSC-2, has sentenced three accused in the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl that occurred in Ulaibettu Parari in 2021, under the jurisdiction of Mangaluru rural police station.

The accused, Jaya Singh, Mukesh Singh, and Manish Tirkey, were sentenced to death by the court on November 7. Additionally, the court directed that Rs 5 lac be paid as compensation to the family of the deceased girl. The verdict was delivered by Justice Manu.

A case was registered under Crime No. 95/2021, covering sections 120(b), 366(a), 377, 302, read with 34 of the IPC, along with sections 5 and 6 of the POCSO Act. The investigation was led by police inspector Johnson D’Souza, who submitted the chargesheet to the court.
