Mangaluru, Nov 9: A fatal accident on the Thokottu-Chembugudde Road on Saturday, November 9, has sparked strong protests by the DYFI Ullal Taluk Committee, who are demanding immediate repairs to the road, which they have labelled a major safety hazard.

Nitin Kuthar, president of the DYFI Ullal Taluk Committee, took aim at local MLA and Speaker U T Khader, accusing him of making empty claims about a "toll-free road" while the area remains plagued by dangerous infrastructure.

“Khader calls this a toll-free road, but today a woman lost her life here. How can he call himself a development champion when he can't even ensure basic safety for the people?” Kuthar said.

He warned that if the road is not fixed within a week, they will stage a black flag protest at Khader’s office.

Sunil Kumar Bajal, former state president of DYFI, joined in the condemnation, saying, “The beautiful Tokkottu town has been ruined. The roads are filled with death traps, and people are forced to take dangerous detours just to cross the street.”

The protest was attended by leaders such as Razaq Mudipu, Ashraf Harekala, Ashfaq Alekala, and Vikas Kuthar. The committee has given the authorities one week to fix the road. If no action is taken, the protestors have vowed to escalate their efforts.
