R.I.P Purvi, we are so sad to learn of your passing away. We are living in the 21st century with a very high literacy rate, and so much advancement in each and every field of life, but still so many people believe in "superstition, evil eye". I am shaking my head in disbelief, are we living in the most modern times ever known to human kind, but are having ideas of the stone age?

Some people believe that the evil eye is a magical power to cast a spell on someone or something by looking at them, so that bad things happen to them. How far that is effective or true left to individual belief or doubts.

Some people believe that the evil eye is a magical power to cast a spell on someone or something by looking at them, so that bad things happen to them. How far that is effective or true left to individual belief or doubts. I too remember during my childhood days talking about an old lady and if she uttered a word looking up to the coconut tree or papaya tree with an astonishing expression, second day the tender coconuts start falling and Papaya bear a black spot on them. 100% I have witnessed. That's why infants are mostly marked a black spot on forehead or on cheeks!
