Kuwait, Nov 12: The league-cum-knockout tournament organized by Fahaheel Cricket Clubs commenced on July 13 and concluded on November 2.
The first semi-final was contested between Fahaheel Strikers and Shining Mangalore. Fahaheel Strikers, winning the toss, opted to field. Shining Mangalore was bowled out for 97 runs in the scheduled 16 overs. In response, Fahaheel Strikers scored 97/9 in 16 overs, resulting in a tie. In the Super Over, Shining Mangalore emerged victorious and advanced to the final. Chasing Bouncer defeated Kerala Legends in the other semi-final to secure their place in the final.
The final took place on November 2, with Shining Mangalore captain Mohammad Sharif winning the toss and choosing to field. Chasing Bouncer was bowled out for 129 runs in 16 overs. Shining Mangalore's Rana claimed 4 wickets for 19 runs in 3 overs, while Ravi Raj Kotian took 2 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Shining Mangalore chased the target confidently, scoring 130/3 in 12.2 overs to win by 7 wickets.
Key performances included Rifaz Malik's 53 runs off 26 balls (3 fours, 6 sixes), Virender Sharma's 43 runs off 30 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes), and Rana’s quick 24 runs off 10 balls, featuring 3 massive sixes.
Rana was named man of the match in the final. The best batsman of the tournament was awarded to Rifaz Malik of Shining Mangalore, while Nasif Ullal was named best bowler.
The Shining Mangalore team, led by Mohammad Sharif, a young businessman from Mangalore and owner of Amal Mustakbal mobile shop, has established itself as a formidable team in Kuwait, having won multiple championships and creating a notable legacy in the region's sports scene.
The award ceremony saw Mohammed Nooruddin Ujire, owner of Spark Kuwait Generators Maintenance Company, and Ibrahim Kannur from Arafa Supermarket distribute the prizes. Team coach Nasir Kuttar, assistant coach Naveen D'Souza, and team mentor Badruddin Muneer were present at the event. Team manager Thameem Moosa Ullal assisted as observer commentator and concluded the program.
