Mumbai: Governor Expresses Grief Over Mario Miranda's Death

Mumbai, Dec 11 (IANS): Condoling the death of cartoonist Mario Miranda's death, Governor of Maharashtra and Goa K. Sankaranarayanan has expressed grief over his demise.

"Mario Miranda will go down in history as the best cartoonist and caricaturist who caught the essence of Mumbai and Goa," Sankaranarayanan said.

"He would portray the city of Mumbai in all its beauty, diversity and contradictions. It can be said that he drew Mumbai like none other did. His pictures would comment on the busy, noisy life of Mumbai, its buildings, its social life and its pomposity," he said.

Sankaranarayanan said that people could relate to his characters, and appreciated his take on contemporary events.

"His portrayal of the life of people in Goa was equally enlivening. In his demise, Maharashtra and Goa have lost one of the finest caricaturists and a silent commentator of events," he added.
