Nationwide, non-partisan campaign against drugs needed: Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan

Kasargod, Nov 16: Zameer Ahmed Khan, minister of housing and minority welfare, government of Karnataka, emphasized the need for a large-scale, nationwide awareness campaign against drugs, urging it to be a non-partisan effort.

Speaking at an anti-drug awareness event in Kanhangad, Kasargod, the minister highlighted the devastating impact of drugs on the youth. He called for a unified fight against the menace, stating, "We must wage a battle against drugs beyond party lines, as it is ruining the future of millions of young people."

Referring to the recent seizure of drugs worth Rs 4,400 crore (782 kg) in Delhi and Gujarat in a single day, he noted, "This alarming incident indicates the dangerous situation we are facing. We need to uproot this menace entirely."

Khan lauded the Sunni Youth Association for organizing such initiatives and announced plans to conduct similar programmes in Bengaluru as well.

The event was attended by Kerala Speaker A N Shamseer, MLA Ashraf Kunhamb, Mohammad Abdul Hakeem, Badsha Shakafi, Maulana Shafi Saadi, and G A Bava.
