Kundapur, Dec 14: In a rare incident, the thieves left behind cash after barging into a house located on Church Road in the town and stealing things and valuables on Monday December 12 night.

The house in question belongs to entrepreneur, Sadananda Shetty, who had bought it about two years back. Shetty, along with family members, had left for Ajrihara to attend a programme a week back. His neighbour, who had visited Shetty’s compound to water the plants in the garden on Tuesday morning, found that the rear door of the house had been broken open. He called up Sadananda Shetty, who immediately rushed back and checked the house.

The thieves had ransacked cupboards and almirahs. They had broken open a steel cupboard and taken away silk saris, a four and half sovereign gold ring, a one and half sovereign gold locket, etc. The house bore telltale signs of the efforts made by the thieves in every nook and corner of the house while searching for more valuables.

A handbag was found in the house. It contained Rs 4,000 in cash, two tickets of Prabhath Talkies, Mangalore, and a cell phone number. The bag is thought to be belonging to the thieves. Sniifer dogs and finger print experts visited the house and conducted investigation.  A case was registered in the local police station.

The thieves seem to have been emboldened by the fact that the policemen here have so far failed to crack theft cases at Raketeshwari Temple in police line, Mahakali Temple in Kharvi Keri, and the shop of Padmanabha Kamath here, which occurred in the recent past.
