Beltangady, Nov 28: A minor girl tragically ended her life after allegedly being deceived by her relative, Praveen, on the pretext of marriage in Mittabagilu village of the taluk.

The girl consumed rat poison on November 20 and succumbed to the poisoning on Thursday. According to reports, the girl and Praveen were in a relationship, but he allegedly betrayed her after promising to marry her.

The girl’s parents have filed a case against Praveen at the Beltangady police station. Praveen is currently absconding, and police are actively searching for him.

It is alleged that Praveen, a resident of Charmady, engaged in a physical relationship with the girl under the pretense of marriage but later refused to fulfill his promise. This betrayal reportedly led the girl to take her life, as claimed by her parents.

The deceased was a second-year PU student. Her suicide attempt on November 20 came as a shock to her friends and relatives. The truth behind her action came to light after her passing. She was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru but succumbed to the poisoning on Thursday.
