Chitrangada Happy with Move to Commercial Cinema

Mumbai, Dec 17 (IANS): Dusky actress Chitrangada, who started her career with off-beat film "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" in 2003, is glad she finally tried her hand at some commercial cinema this year.

The actress was seen in "Desi Boyz" recently and is happy with the way the year shaped up.

"The year has been really good. It has seen quite a graph for me personally. My release 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' was in February, and then I shot three films this year. 'Desi Boyz' has already released," Chitrangada said here at a garment store launch.

"It's been a great year for me and I have got a great response. I have tried to do something different from what I have done so far, tried another genre and I think it was received very well, so that was very encouraging," added the 35-year-old.

Chitrangada took a three-year break after just one film to start a family with golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa. She made a comeback with Onir's "Sorry Bhai" in 2008.

In recent times, her different yet glamourous look has led her to bag some big films.

"There would be a film with (directed by) Sudhir Mishra with Arjun and me in the lead, and then there is a film called 'I, Me Aur Main' with John (Abraham). These two are there early next year," said Chitrangada, who was also seen in a small-budget film "Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow" in 2005.

Meanwhile, the actress has also shot her first-ever item number "Kaafirana" in Shirish Kunder's upcoming film "Joker".
