I Still See Myself as Indie Filmmaker: Ritchie

London, Dec 18 (IANS): British director Guy Ritchie may have helmed the latest Sherlock Holmes movie -- "A Game of Shadows" -- but says he still has Indie sensibilities.

"Filmmaking has changed as we all know. Indie movies are being muscled out in quite a conspicuous fashion and who's responsible for that and why that is the case, I'm not sure. At the same time I still see myself as an Indie filmmaker," contactmusic.com quoted the 43-year-old as saying.

Ritchie rose to fame with small-budget movies such as "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and admits that "A Game of Shadows" too has Indie Influences.

"I certainly got no resistance from the studio in terms of trying anything that we thought was innovative. They really encouraged it. Filmmaking at blockbuster level, they've absorbed an Indie influence. That's the upside of where we have found ourselves," he said.

"Big movies are becoming increasingly more interesting. It's an interesting time in film history. I do feel, as I say, these big movies can be very interesting. I don't feel constrained at all," he added.
