Iran Invites IAEA Iinspectors to Visit N-Sites

Tehran, Dec 22 (IANS): Iran has invited inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit nuclear establishments in the country, an official said.

Ali-Asghar Soltanieh, Iran's permanent representative to the IAEA said Tehran was prepared to address concerns on its nuclear programme, Xinhua reported citing Press TV.

He said Iran had sent a letter to IAEA chief Yukiya Amano in the early part of December, renewing an October invitation to IAEA officials to visit the country.

"I have also had discussions with officials of the agency and we are planning for the visit," Soltanieh said.

"We are going to discuss any questions and to work towards removing the ambiguities and resolving the issue," he added.

The IAEA has confirmed that it has received an invitation.

In November, the agency said in a report on Iran's nuclear programme that there was "credible" evidence that showed Iran was seeking to obtain nuclear weapons. Tehran rejected the report, calling it "imbalanced, non-professional and politically-motivated".
