Udupi, Aug 2: Reinforcing its commitment to expanding quality banking services across Karnataka, MCC Bank Ltd inaugurated its 23rd branch at Katapadi on Sunday, August 2. The newly established branch is situated on the ground floor of Global Residency Building, Old Post Office Road, Moodabettu, Katapadi.
The new branch was inaugurated by Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank Ltd. M A Gafoor, president of the Coastal Development Board, inaugurated the Safe Room, while Fr Rajesh Prasanna, parish priest of St Vincent De Paul Church, Katapadi, ceremonially lit the lamp and invoked god's blessings on the new premises, marking the commencement of the branch's operations.
The inaugural function was presided over by chairman Anil Lobo. M A Gafoor attended as the chief guest. Akshay D Amanna, presbyter of CSI Christ Church, Katapadi, Prashanth Jathanna, director, Karnataka Christian Co-operative Credit Development Corporation (KCCDC), Government of Karnataka, Geethanjali M Suvarna, former member of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, K Satyendra Pai, secretary, SVS Vidyavardhaka Sangha (R), Katapadi, CA Pritiesh Burton D'Sa, chartered accountant, and Ismail Katapadi, general secretary, Muslim Federation, Udupi District. Vice chairman Jerald Jude D'Silva and general manager Sunil Menezes also graced the dais.
In his presidential address, MCC Bank chairman Anil Lobo reaffirmed the Bank's unwavering commitment to cooperative banking, customer-centric service, and sustainable growth, highlighting the remarkable transformation the institution has achieved in recent years.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Katapadi for their overwhelming support and warm welcome, he said the confidence reposed in MCC Bank would play a vital role in making the newly inaugurated Katapadi Branch another success story. He expressed confidence that the branch would achieve a business turnover of Rs 10 crore within just six months, reflecting the growing trust people have placed in the Bank.
Describing the present phase as an era of expansion, Lobo said MCC Bank has emerged as one of the fastest-growing cooperative banks in the region, with communities across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi wholeheartedly embracing the institution. He attributed this success to the Bank's steadfast adherence to RBI guidelines, transparent governance, and unwavering focus on customer satisfaction.
Highlighting the Bank's impressive financial performance, Lobo said MCC Bank has nearly tripled its business turnover from Rs 500 crore to over Rs 1,600 crore in just eight years. He noted that this remarkable growth has been achieved by providing "smiling service with a humanitarian touch," a philosophy that continues to distinguish MCC Bank in the cooperative banking sector.
Referring to the affectionate title of "Jeernoddharka of MCC Bank" bestowed upon him by well-wishers, Lobo said the transformation of the Bank has been a collective effort of the Board of Directors, management, and dedicated staff.
During the past eight years, the Bank has renovated its branches, modernised customer service, revived the founding vision of the institution, strengthened governance, enhanced digital banking services, and successfully restored NRI banking facilities, making MCC Bank more accessible and relevant to present-day banking needs.
He further highlighted that under the current leadership, six new branches have been established. Excluding the recently opened Deralakatte Branch, every new branch has achieved a business turnover of nearly Rs 10 crore within its first year of operations, reflecting the Bank's robust business model, prudent financial management, and the unwavering confidence reposed by its customers. He attributed this achievement to the collective efforts of the Board of Directors, management, staff, and the continued trust of the public.

Fr Rajesh Prasanna, in his address, congratulated MCC Bank on the inauguration of its new branch at Katapadi and described the institution as "our own Bank." As a gesture of social responsibility, the Bank extended financial assistance of Rs.25,000 to Ravi Katapadi.
The Bank also felicitated customers who opened accounts on the occasion and recognised individuals who contributed to the successful inauguration of the branch.
