'Looting bride' arrested in Jaipur after scamming Rs 1.25 crore through 3 marriages

New Delhi, Dec 23: A woman, dubbed the "bride scammer," has been arrested after allegedly marrying several men and swindling a total of Rs 1.25 crore in settlements. Seema, also known as Nikki, was caught after more than a decade of deceiving her victims.

Originally from Uttarakhand, Seema married an Agra-based businessman in 2013. After the marriage, she filed a case against his family, resulting in a settlement of Rs 75 lac.

In 2017, she wed a software engineer from Gurugram and obtained Rs 10 lac after their divorce. Her latest marriage was in 2023 to a businessman in Jaipur, from whom she left with Rs 36 lac in cash and jewellery. Following a complaint by his family, she was arrested by Jaipur Police.

Investigations revealed that Seema targeted men who had lost their wives or were divorced, finding her victims through matrimonial websites. She secured a total of Rs 1.25 crore across multiple marriages in three different states - Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

Seema is suspected of blackmailing wealthy men by fabricating cases against their families.

A special team from Murlipora police tracked her to her home in Dehradun, where she was arrested. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking to uncover more details about her activities and potential additional victims.
