CWC meet to mark centenary of Mahatma Gandhi-led Congress session gets underway

Belagavi, Dec 26: AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Congress opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders attended the Centenary Celebrations of the historic Congress session at Veerasoudha in Tilakawadi of Belagavi under the presidentship of Mahatma Gandhi by arriving in a padayatra for hoisting the party flag at Belagavi on Thursday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other senior Congress leaders including State Ministers were part of the padayatra for the centenary celebrations and extended Congress Working Committee meeting.

All the dignitaries who attended the centenary celebrations and were part of the padayatra wore Gandhi caps and carried pictures of Mahatama Gandhi.

Asmita Saras Mela, Khadi Utsav

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated a Asmita Saras Mela and Khadi Utsav exhibition and sales at the Sardar High School grounds held as part of the centenary celebrations.

Deputy Chief Minister and other Cabinet ministers as well as senior party leaders attended the exhibition.

The Asmitha Saras Mela and Khadi Utsav will be till January 4.

As many as 159 stalls by self-help groups of women from different districts will be part of the exhibition, which will have cultural programmes every evening from 6.30 pm to 9 pm

The Chief Minister also inaugurated Gangadhar Rao Deshpande Memorial Hall and Photo Gallery at Ramathirtha Nagar in Belagavi.
