Mangaluru, Jan 3: Speaker U T Khader visited the new deputy commissioner’s (DC) office at Padil on Friday, January 3, to assess its progress.
Accompanied by DC Mullai Muhilan, Khader reviewed the nearly completed project, which is slated for inauguration soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Khader said, “The new DC office at Padil has been a long-pending demand. The current office at Hampankatta faces severe traffic congestion, and the new location at Padil will significantly ease the situation. This building will serve as a model DC office, constructed at a cost of Rs 75 crore.”
He further added, “Efforts are underway to complete the remaining work as quickly as possible, with the aim of inaugurating the office during the chief minister's visit to Mangaluru on January 17 for the State Olympics. We will coordinate with the concerned officials to ensure timely completion of the work, or we may have to modify our plans.”
Khader emphasized the advantages of centralizing various departments at the new DC office, saying, “Our goal is to bring all departments under one roof, making it more convenient for the public to access services and manage their time. Additionally, with most meetings planned to be held at the DC office, it will streamline operations for officials when all departments are in a single location.”
