Udupi, Jan 7: John Mullahy, Member of Parliament from Victoria, Australia, will attend the annual Saptotsava celebration at Paryaya Sri Puttige Sri Krishna Math, scheduled from January 9 to January 15.
The festival, marking the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti, commemorates the historic event from over eight centuries ago when Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya installed the idol of Lord Krishna, brought from Dwarka, for the devotion of the faithful in Udupi.
Udupi, recognised as the "Rajatapitha Puri" for its divine cultural vibrancy, continues to attract global attention for its rich religious and cultural heritage. As part of the Saptotsava this year, MP John Mullahy will grace the event at the invitation of the esteemed Paryaya Swamiji.
The celebration will also feature the participation of Sri Pundarika Goswami, the revered Mahaswami of the Madhwa Math of Gaudiya, a devoted follower of Lord Krishna, renowned for his profound Bhagavata discourses. The Swamiji, who has been honoured by several dignitaries, including the vice-president of India, will add spiritual fervour to the festivities.
