Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Jan 8: The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has approved an increase in the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre strength in Goa under the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre, raising it from eight to ten posts.

This expansion introduces two new positions in the Goa Police: Additional Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police (SP) for the Anti-Narcotics Cell. The existing structure includes roles for the Director General of Police (DGP), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP – Range), DIGP (CID/Intelligence), SP North, SP South, SP CID/Crime Branch, and SP Training/Traffic.

Currently, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) and the Economic Offenses Cell are headed by IPS officers Tikam Singh Verma and Arshi Aadil, respectively.

While the IPS cadre strength has been revised, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre under the AGMUT framework remains unchanged for Goa at 23
posts.
