Udupi, Dec 31: Udupi Railway Yatirikara Sangha urged the Indian Railways (IR) authorities not to extend daily express train services between Mangalore Junction and Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus (CST) Mumbai to Kerala.

The Sangha convened an emergency meeting here on Thursday December 29, chaired by Shekar N Kotian, following the rumour that the same train services will be extended to Kerala.

The Konkan Railways express train services between Mangalore Junction and CST, Mumbai, has been very beneficial to the coastal people.
The Sangha urged the elected representatives of Karnataka to pressurize the railway authorities to start the express train services from Mangalore Central instead of Mangalore Junction and CST, Mumbai, and also to extend the Yashwantpur – Bangalore train services to Karwar.

Sangha secretary John Rebello welcomed the gathering.  S S Tonse proposed the vote of thanks.

KRCL has huge backlog to full fill the requirement of Coastal Karanaka people. For Kerala there are many trains already there. But for Mumbai-Mangalore there are only 2 exclusive trains!!. After Mathsyaganda Express KRCL took more than decade to introduce new train which is Mumbai-Mangalore Junction Express!! Surprisingly KRCL playing long term strategy/game plan to protect interest of Kerala people by not giving stops to this train in many important stations are Kundapura, Mulky, Suratkal and off course final stoppage at Mangalore Central Station. Everybody knows that maximum Mumbaikers belonging to surroundings’ of above mentioned stations. Surprisingly for this train there is stop at Byndoor Station, a remote north border village of Kundapura Taluk and there are issues to access Byndoor station because of its geographical presence. So hardly people are benefitted!! End of the day KRCL has excuse telling us that lesser profitability/revenue loss etc.
So everyone and all the Railway Passengers Welfare Associations (Uudpi, Kundapura other places of undivided district) should urge/protest to not extend this train to Kerala. There should be stoppage at Kundapura, Mulky & Suratkal immediately!!
