UAE sends 700 tonnes of food aid to flood-hit Somalia

Abu Dhabi, Jan 11: In a significant humanitarian initiative, the UAE has dispatched 700 tonnes of urgent food supplies to assist flood-affected communities in Somalia. This comes in line with directives from the UAE’s leadership to support nations impacted by natural disasters and alleviate the suffering of the Somali people.

The aid, comprising essential food packages, is expected to benefit approximately 150,000 individuals from flood-stricken families. It aims to provide immediate relief to those most in need and support the recovery process in the affected areas.

Commitment to solidarity

Ahmed Juma Al Rumaithi, UAE ambassador to Somalia, highlighted the UAE’s unwavering solidarity with Somalia during this crisis. "This initiative reflects the strong bilateral ties between the UAE and Somalia and underscores the leadership's commitment to extending all forms of assistance to affected communities," he stated.

Al Rumaithi emphasized the UAE’s dedication to collaborating with local and international partners to ensure aid reaches those in dire need, contributing to alleviating their hardships and expediting recovery efforts.
