Karkala: Attempt to poach wild animals - One arrested, five escape

Karkala, Jan 13: Forest officials successfully thwarted an attempt by poachers to hunt wild animals within the Kudremukh National Sanctuary limits.

The incident occurred near the Mulloor forest check post in Mala village of the taluk. Around five to six men, armed with a rifle, were waiting in a car to poach wild animals when forest officials raided the group.

Paswim Ali (35), a resident of Katipalla, was arrested by the forest officials, while others managed to escape with the car and the gun.

Forest department officials informed that Paswim Ali is accused of hunting two wild bisons in the Shankaranarayana forest area. A case has been registered against him under charges of attempting to hunt wild animals and violations of the Arms Act.
