Kasargod, Jan 2: The policemen, who are investigating the death of Baby (40), wife of the late Krishna from Kolambe near Bela Ratnagiri in the district, have found out that the woman was killed by her own son.

Reportedly, Dharmendra, son of Baby, has confessed to the policemen that he administered poison to his mother before smothering her to death.

The post mortem report on Baby’s body, conducted at Periyaram Medical College Hospital, had mentioned that the death was caused by a poisonous substance found inside Baby’s stomach. As it also mentioned about injuries in the neck region of the woman, the policemen subjected Baby’s son, Dharmendra, to intensive interrogation, after which the truth was revealed.

Dharmendra told the policemen that he was fed up with the strange behavior of his mother since some time. “She suffered from mental derangement.  I could have never been able to provide treatment to her because of high cost involved. Sometimes, she behaved as if she did not care about whether she wore something or not. She also opposed entry of a girl I married, into our home. As I was frustrated and depressed over this state of affairs, I planned to eliminate her,” Dharmendra told the policemen.

Dharmendra also revealed to the interrogators that he brought  poison from Seetangoly and asked his mother to consume it, making her believe that it was medicine. He then tightened a cloth around his mother’s neck and killed her, the policemen said.

Investigation is continuing under the leadership of local police circle inspector, Babu Peringoth.
