Kasargod, Jan 4:
Consumption of excess sleeping pills claimed the life of a teacher in Kumble, near here. The victim has been identified as Fathima (21), daughter of Moosa and Zahara, and a resident of Bambrana, Kumble. She was working as a teacher in a private school in Uppala.

It is suspected that depression over hindrances to her marriage led her to take this extreme step. After consuming the tablets, Fathima was admitted to a private hospital in Kasargod. She died on the morning of Tuesday January 3, despite being provided immediate medical attention at a hospital in Mangalore.

Fathima was engaged to a man from Uppala and preparations were also made for the wedding. She was on leave since a month. During this time, her fiancé is said to have takeb back his promise of marrying her. Fathima was disappointed and hence committed suicide, it is learnt.

Kumble police registered the case and the investigation is on.
