Mangaluru, Jan 22: Waste dumping remains a persistent issue in Mangaluru, with the public showing little regard for environmental warnings. Despite repeated efforts, citizens continue to dispose of garbage in water bodies, exacerbating the pollution problem.

One such example is the drain located at Dattanagar 3rd Cross, which connects to Yeyyadi Road. The drain is completely clogged with waste, likely discarded by people arriving on two-wheelers, who throw plastic bags into the drain.

Months ago, the entire stretch was cleaned, and a banner was erected by Dattanagar residents, urging the public to stop dumping garbage into the drain. However, the waste disposal problem persists, with people now resorting to other areas along the drain to continue their irresponsible behavior.

Additionally, waste has been accumulating along the sides of the road, and locals report that the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has not collected the garbage for over a week. A notice from MCC urges the public not to dump waste and encourages complaints about violators to be made to a provided contact number (+919449007722). Despite this, the notice seems to have had little effect, with the dumping continuing unabated.

The local corporators have yet to take any significant action, leaving residents frustrated and concerned about the growing environmental crisis in the area.
