Udupi, Jan 23: A resident of Udupi with a recent travel history to Dubai has been diagnosed with monkeypox. The individual received treatment at the district hospital and has since recovered, confirmed Udupi deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Vidyakumari.
The patient's samples have been sent for further laboratory testing, and health officials are awaiting the report. Addressing the media, DC Dr Vidyakumari stated, “There are no symptoms of the disease among the individual’s relatives or close contacts. The patient, who arrived from abroad, visited the hospital directly upon arrival and has not interacted with others.”
The DC assured the public that there is no cause for panic as all necessary precautionary measures have been taken. The patient was promptly isolated and treated. Additionally, all close contacts of the individual have been tested, and none have exhibited any symptoms.
