Mangalore: DVS Participates in Yaga, Lays Foundation for Community Hall

Mangalore, Jan 5: Addressing the religious meeting organized at Gurpur after participating in Navachandika Yaga organized on Wednesday January 4 at Vajradehi Mutt as part of the ongoing festivities there, Karnataka Chief Minister (CM), D V Sadananda Gowda (DVS), said that he has experienced a sense of added self-confidence coupled with divinity after participating in the Yaga.

“Under the current scenario, which is confusing and disturbing, this experience that has come at the right time, has fortified my will power and confidence to face every challenge with courage and conviction,” he  confessed.

Before the religious meeting, the CM also laid the foundation stone for the community hall being built at Gurpur.

Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji, spiritual head of Vajradehi Mutt, delivering benedictory address, urged the government to conceive schemes which have the potential to inspire the youth to work for the progress of the society. He also urged the government to ensure that cow slaughter bill becomes an act, and to move a bill to stop religious conversions.

At the meeting, Kishore D Shetty, a patron of art and culture, as well as Santosh Bhayander from Mumbai, were felicitated by the CM.

Before participating in the Yaga, DVS visited Vajradehi Mutt, where he was accorded warm welcome. He paid obeisance to the deity there, before proceeding to the Yaga venue. Reacting to queries posed by press persons after the programme, DVS said the Yaga has happened at the right time for him, and that he had beseeched the Lord during prayers to bless the state and its people with affluence and to address problems they have been facing. About the appointment of new Lokayukta, he said he plans to discuss the issue with the Governor soon.

State higher education minister, Dr V S Acharya, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, deputy speaker of state assembly, N Yogeesh Bhat, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president, Shylaja Bhat, MRPL managing director, Uttam Kumar Basu, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Coastal Development Authority chairman, Nagaraja Shetty and many other dignitaries were present at the dais.

Monappa Bhandary welcomed. Krishnamurty delivered introductory address. Vadiraja Kalluraya and Purushottam Bhandary presented the programme. Jagadish Shenava proposed vote of thanks.
