Kasargod, Jan 5: In an operation launched at Uppala in the district on Wednesday January 4 under the leadership of Kumble circle inspector of police, T P Ranjit, five kg of ganja was seized, and two persons arrested.
Ahmed (55), son of Mohammed from Mulinja Kuntupuni near Uppala, and Hasainar, son of Musa from Sonkalu, were arrested by the policemen. Two teams, led by Manjeshwar sub-inspector of police, Rajesh, and circle inspector of police, Ranjit, simultaneously raided houses of the above two persons. While two kg of ganja was recovered from the house of Ahmed, three kg of ganja was recovered from Hasainar’s home.
The policemen had acted on the basis of information that ganja was being sold and transported in the district, and that Uppala was the hub of these activities.
