Artists capture Mangaluru’s heritage at spot painting camp

Mangaluru, Feb 10: To celebrate and showcase Mangaluru's rich cultural heritage, Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi, in collaboration with Mahalasa College of Visual Arts, Mangaluru, organized a spot painting camp themed ‘Heritage Beauty of Mangaluru’ at the historic old DC office premises on Sunday, February 9.

The event was inaugurated by Dr P L Dharma, vice chancellor of Mangalore University, who commended the initiative for bringing art and heritage together in a meaningful way.

The camp attracted over 30 talented artists from Mangaluru and beyond. Renowned local artists, including Koti Prasad Alva, Ganesh Somayaji, Shivaprakash, Sharath Hola, John Chandran, Jayashree, Naveen, Sathvik, and Arun Karanth, along with several students from Mahalasa College of Visual Arts, participated in the event, showcasing their skills and artistic interpretations of Mangaluru's vibrant heritage.

Key figures such as president Koti Prasad Alva, secretary Dr S M Shivaprakash, and other prominent members of the organizing team were also present, contributing to the smooth execution of the event. Their involvement highlighted the significance of preserving and promoting Mangaluru's artistic and cultural legacy.
