New Delhi, Feb 24: India cruised to victory against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy Group A match on Sunday, with Virat Kohli’s masterful century leading the chase. After restricting Pakistan to 241 runs, India comfortably reached the target with over seven overs to spare.
While the match was largely one-sided, an on-field moment involving Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed sparked controversy. Abrar dismissed a well-set Shubman Gill for 46 with a stunning leg-break and then signaled him to walk back, a gesture that did not sit well with Indian fans. Social media was soon flooded with reactions and memes targeting Abrar.
Kohli, standing at the non-striker’s end, looked in awe of the delivery that rattled Gill’s stumps. However, his response with the bat was emphatic. The chase maestro remained unbeaten on 100 off 111 balls, hitting seven boundaries to take India home in style.
With this win, India secured a semi-final spot, while Kohli registered his sixth century in ICC ODI tournaments and his maiden ton in the Champions Trophy.
