Srinagar, Nov 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested two more alleged terror associates linked to a separatist terror module in Bandipora district, taking the total number of arrests in the case to eight.

According to a police statement, the arrests were made as part of the ongoing investigation into a prison-linked terror module of a banned organisation that allegedly targeted women for separatist ideology and propaganda. The module had been busted earlier in the district.

The two accused were arrested in connection with Case FIR No. 168/2026, registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The arrested persons have been identified as Irshad Ahmed Bhat, son of Gh. Mohd Bhat and a resident of Chakloo in Baramulla, and Showkat Ahmed Reshi, son of Gh. Mohd Reshi and a resident of Watlab in Sopore.

Both have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the case. Further investigation is underway to establish the extent of their involvement and identify other possible links and associates connected with the module.

Bandipora Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling terror networks and taking firm legal action against those found involved in activities prejudicial to the security and peace of the region.

Meanwhile, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing and local units of Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified operations against cross-border terror modules, online radicalisation networks and terror-financing activities.

In a recent operation targeting online radicalisation and a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-linked module, the CIK conducted coordinated raids at six locations across Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama and Anantnag. Investigators seized digital devices and documents while probing alleged links between cross-border handlers and local operatives. The investigation also covers cases connected to Hokersar in Srinagar and Magam in Budgam.

Earlier, the CIK had carried out searches at 10 locations across Ganderbal, Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama in connection with an alleged sleeper cell and recruitment network operated from across the border by Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Abdullah Ghazi.

Jammu and Kashmir Police also conducted extensive searches in Shopian targeting associates and support networks linked to banned organisations. Suspects allegedly involved in providing logistical and financial assistance to terror activities were arrested.

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir has separately intensified its action against alleged cryptocurrency-based terror-financing conspiracies aimed at fuelling unrest and radicalising youth in the Union Territory.
