Mangaluru, Mar 1: AJ Hospital has successfully performed a ground-breaking arthroscopic bone block procedure using an advanced instability system for patients with recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation. This first-of-its-kind procedure offers a minimally invasive approach to glenoid bone reconstruction, ensuring reduced blood loss, minimal post-operative pain, early rehabilitation, and faster recovery.

The procedure was meticulously performed by Dr Mithun Shetty, with Dr Pramal Shetty (anesthetist) and Dr Ganesh (radiologist) providing critical support. Additionally, Dr TV Tantry, Dr Dheeraj, Dr Deekshith Shetty, and Dr Vishaan Shetty played key roles in the success of the procedure. The expertise of Mohini (experienced nursing staff) and Shrinidhi (well-trained OT technician) ensured smooth execution in the operation theatre.

This advanced total arthroscopic technique eliminates the need for large surgical incisions. The glenoid bone loss is accurately measured using 3D reconstructed CT imaging and intraoperative assessments, and the lost bone is replaced with a natural autograft, shaped precisely to fit the defect.
